Ruin
Graphite, natural pigments and charcoal
60" x 60"

In the winter of 2016–17, I spent a month exploring Caylus, France on residency there. Revealing ancient brickwork, stone structures, and historical roads, the winter landscape invited thoughts of mythology and an imagined history. Working at a large scale, this piece reflects that sense of total immersion while navigating new surroundings.
Graphite, charcoal, natural pigment on paper, 60" × 68", 2017.
